The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) is a wonderful opportunity for women and men from developing countries to pursue their dreams of higher education in a development-related field.

Who Can Apply: The JJ/WBGSP is open to nationals of World Bank member countries who come from developing regions. Dual citizens of any developed country are not eligible for this scholarship.

Additionally, applicants must be in good health and hold a Bachelor’s degree earned at least three years prior to the application deadline.

The program also requires candidates to have a minimum of three years of recent development-related work experience after obtaining their Bachelor’s degree.

Scholarship Benefits: Selected candidates will receive a comprehensive scholarship package that covers tuition fees for the chosen master’s program, a monthly living stipend, round-trip airfare, health insurance, and a travel allowance.

The duration of the scholarship will be for the entire duration of the graduate program or a maximum of two years, whichever is shorter.

Application Process: To be considered for the JJ/WBGSP scholarship, applicants must first apply and be unconditionally accepted for admission to one of the Participating Programs.

They will need to provide an unconditional letter of acceptance from the chosen master’s degree program as part of the scholarship application. The application process is done online, and there are two application windows, depending on the participating program:

  1. Application Window #1: From 16 January 2023 to 28 February 2023 at noon Washington time.
  2. Application Window #2: From 27 March 2023 to 26 May 2023 at noon Washington time.
