Government of Flanders Master Mind Scholarships for International Students

The Flemish Ministry of Education is offering Master Mind Scholarships to exceptional students worldwide, promoting Flanders and Brussels as premier study destinations. These scholarships are available for eligible Master’s degree programs at participating Flemish institutions, including universities and universities of applied sciences and arts.

Eligibility: To be eligible for the Master Mind Scholarships, applicants must fulfill the following criteria:

  • Apply for a Master’s degree program at a Flemish host institution.
  • Demonstrate outstanding academic performance with a Grade Point Average of 3.5 out of 4.0.
  • Possess a strong command of the English language (specific requirements available on the official website).

  • All nationalities, except for Russian, are welcome to apply, provided their previous degree was earned outside Flanders.

Scholarship Value and Duration: Selected students will receive a grant of €9,600 per academic year, along with a tuition fee waiver. Recipients are only required to pay an administrative enrollment fee. The scholarship covers either one academic year for a 60-ECTS Master’s program or two academic years for a 120-ECTS Master’s program.

Host Institutions: The Master Mind Scholarships are available at various prestigious Flemish institutions, including:

  • Universities: KU Leuven / University of Leuven, University of Antwerp, Ghent University, Hasselt University, Vrije Universiteit Brussel.
  • Universities of Applied Sciences and Arts: Antwerp Maritime Academy, AP University of Applied Sciences and Arts, Erasmus Brussels University of Applied Sciences and Arts, HOGENT University of Applied Sciences and Arts, KdG University of Applied Sciences and Arts, LUCA School of Arts, PXL University of Applied Sciences and Arts.

Application Process: Applications are currently closed, and students cannot apply directly. Eligible candidates must submit their applications to the host institution, which will preselect suitable candidates. The deadline for applications varies between 1 February and 6 April 2023, depending on the specific Flemish Host Institution’s internal deadlines. Target Group and Reserved Scholarships: The Master Mind Scholarships are open to international students from all countries. Specific scholarships are reserved for students from Japan (3), Mexico (3), Palestine (2), and the USA (5).
