Who Can Apply?

Eligibility Criteria:

They should possess outstanding academic performance, critical thinking skills, a thirst for knowledge, and an ability to work in a team. Additionally, candidates must exhibit tolerance, openness, and self-reflection.

For Bachelors and Masters degree courses, applicants should have a confirmation of study place or enrollment at a state or state-recognized German university or technical college.

Foreign applicants are required to demonstrate sufficient German language skills. First-year students must apply before or at the beginning of the first semester.

PhD funding applicants must have an unconditional notification of admission to the doctoral scholarship and should also demonstrate sufficient German language skills for foreign applicants.

Scholarship Benefits:

Selected scholars receive a monthly stipend of up to €744, along with a monthly flat-rate study fee of €300 that can be used at their discretion. Depending on their circumstances, scholars may also receive contributions towards health insurance and long-term care insurance. For scholars with children, a family allowance of €155 per month is provided. The scholarship does not need to be repaid.

The Foundation also supports international experiences during the funding period. Scholars can avail subsidies for travel expenses, tuition fees, and international health insurance for study or research stays, language courses, and internships of up to 12 months.

Application Process:

To apply for the scholarship, candidates must fill out an online application form available on the official website of Friedrich Ebert Stiftung. If eligible, applicants will receive further instructions and document requirements via email. The application deadline for Masters degree scholarships for international students is 30th November for the Winter semester and 31st May for the Summer semester.
