1. Scholarships for New Students
For first-year students, the university offers new student scholarships. The university provides three primary programmes:

2 UTGRV Merit-Based Scholarships
Students are not required to apply for merit-based scholarship awards because they are given on a competitive basis. The applicants must be admitted to UTRGV by June 1st, 2022. Apprentices in Dual Enrollment must submit their college transcripts before the deadline to be considered for scholarships. The university gives out scholarships on a first-come, first-served basis until the fund is depleted.
Merit-based scholarship programmes are classified into the following categories:
The UTRGV Scholars Program provides funding for four years of undergraduate studies or until graduation.
Presidential fellowship:
- The qualifying student can receive a reward of up to $32,000.
Distinguished scholarship: A $40,000 award is available, along with housing (only for out-of-area students).
Meritorious Scholarship: A $20,000 scholarship is available to students.
Deadline: Qualifying students must accept the scholarship within 30 days of receiving it and enrol in the university by the start of the fall semester (June 1st), or the award will be cancelled.
Conditions for renewal:
The student must enrol in the fall and spring semesters (minimum of 15 hours) until the completion of his or her bachelor’s degree.
To keep the scholarship, the student must complete 30 hours (minimum) each academic year (summer, spring, and fall).
Throughout the college-level courses, a CGPA of 3.0 is required (including the high school grades)
Scholarships should be kept until the end of undergraduate studies (4 years) or until graduation.
3 UTGRV MSA Scholarships
The MSA scholarship is available for undergraduate studies for two years or until graduation. It has a scholarship programme that covers the entire tuition and fees for the fall and spring semesters. It offers numerous advantages to students in order to help them overcome financial difficulties. It is open to all undergraduate students at the university, regardless of major.
- The entire tuition and fees, plus $500 per semester for books and housing (double occupancy) that is not covered by another state or federal programme.
Deadline: The student must accept the award within 30 days of receiving it and enrol in university by June 1st.
Conditions for renewal: –
The student must enrol in the fall and spring semesters within a minimum of 15 hours to complete the degree.

Luminary Scholarships at UTRGV

- Criteria for Eligibility:
The following are some of the prerequisites for submitting an application:
Academic achievement: The applicant must demonstrate strong academic ability by demonstrating class rank, high school course grades, GPA, and SAT/ACT scores.
Leadership:- The applicant must be able to demonstrate leadership abilities.
Community involvement: The applicant must demonstrate their contribution to community involvement during their high school tenure.
Citizenship and residency requirements: The applicant must be a US citizen or permanent resident, or meet the Texas residency requirements.
College admission: The applicant must complete the ApplyTexas application and enrol in UTGRV by December 1st.
On-campus Residency: The applicant must complete and submit the University Housing Application and demonstrate a willingness to live on campus for at least the first two academic years.

Undergraduate – Graduate Program Scholar Total available funds: – $75,000
Benefits: – It covers the entire tuition and mandatory fees for the entire four-year period, which is approximately $40,000. It also includes $17000 in room and board for the first two years, as well as $18000 in graduate tuition and mandatory fees.
Scholar Luminary Undergraduate – School of Medicine
Total available funds: $137,000
Advantages: – The scholarship awards $40,000 to cover four years of tuition and mandatory fees, and $17,000 to cover room and board charges for two years. It also covers the costs of School and Medicine, which total around $80,000.
Scholarships for the VAMOS/UTRGV Scholars Program
The UTRGV Foundation collaborates with the Valley Alliance of Mentors for Opportunities and Scholarships (VAMOS) to provide scholarships to students. The scholarship is available for undergraduate studies for a maximum of four years or until graduation.
$10,000 in scholarships are available.

The applicant must be either a US citizen or a qualified non-citizen.
