Rotary Foundation Global Scholarship Grants for Development
Are you a non-Rotarian seeking financial support to pursue graduate-level coursework or research in one of Rotary’s six areas of focus? Look no further! The Rotary Foundation Global Grants offer life-changing scholarship funding for one to four academic years. Let’s explore the key details of this incredible opportunity.
Who Can Apply?
The Rotary Foundation Global Grants are open to non-Rotarians sponsored by Rotary Districts or Clubs. To check your eligibility, please refer to the scholarship page of the Rotary Club or District you wish to apply to.
Host Institutions and Fields of Study:
The scholarship allows you to study at any approved university located in a country where there is a host Rotary club or district, outside your home country. You can pursue graduate-level coursework or research in one of Rotary’s six areas of focus, which include:
- Peace and conflict prevention/resolution
- Disease prevention and treatment
- Water and sanitation
- Maternal and child health
- Basic education and literacy
- Economic and community development
Scholarship Value:
The Rotary Foundation provides a minimum budget of $30,000 for each global grant scholarship. This amount covers various essential expenses, such as:
- Passport/visa fees
- Required inoculations
- Travel expenses (as specified in the grant terms and conditions)
- School supplies
- Tuition fees
- Room and board expenses
- Household supplies
- Language training courses (unless university admission depends on language skill improvement)
Keep in mind that personal and miscellaneous expenses are usually not covered by the scholarship funding.
Application Process:
To apply for the Rotary Foundation Global Grants, start by contacting your local Rotary club. You can find your nearest Rotary club using the Rotary Club Locator. They will guide you on how to secure sponsorship for the grant.
The application process is conducted online. The sponsor clubs or districts initiate the application, and the scholar candidate then completes their profile online.
Remember, applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year, but it’s advisable to submit your application at least three months before your intended departure date. This allows sufficient time for the Foundation’s review and processing. Please note that each Rotary Club/District may have its own specific timeline for application submission.
