The American Indian Science and Engineering Society (AISES) is a 501 non-profit professional association founded in 1977, dedicated to increasing representation in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) for Native Americans.

Eligibility Criteria:

The AISES Intel Growing The Legacy Scholarship Program is open to Native American students in the United States who are pursuing degrees in STEM fields.

To be eligible, applicants must be U.S. citizens, enrolled full-time at an accredited college or university, and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. They must also be enrolled citizens or descendants of federally or state-recognized American Indian Tribes, Alaska Native Villages, Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders, or Indigenous people of Canada.

Application Process: The scholarship application process consists of three stages:

  1. Applicant Profile: All interested students must create a new profile on the OASIS scholarship platform, which is the new system used for the 23-24 academic year.
  2. Scholarship Applications: Students must complete the required questions and submit all necessary documents to apply for the eligible scholarships.
  3. Post Acceptance: After finalists are selected, they will be required to submit additional documents for verification, including academic institution enrollment verification, an online scholarship agreement, a recent photo/headshot, a thank-you letter to the scholarship donor, and a signed AISES direct deposit form with accompanying bank information.

Required Documents: Applicants need to submit several documents, including their resume, transcripts, tribal citizenship/indigenous native verification, letters of recommendation, and five essays, each with a maximum of 300 words.

Benefits: AISES is committed to supporting its awardees each year. The scholarship program offers the following financial support:

  • $10,000 per academic year for graduate students (Masters and Doctoral students)
  • $5,000 per academic year for undergraduate students (College sophomores, juniors, and seniors)
  • $5,000 per academic year for Native Next Generation students (College freshmen)
