If you’re an international student seeking to pursue a Master’s degree at a prestigious university in Switzerland, the University of Lausanne (UNIL) offers an excellent opportunity through its Master’s Grants.
These competitive scholarships are awarded to deserving students who wish to enroll in various Master’s programs at UNIL. In this blog post, we’ll provide you with an overview of the scholarship, including eligibility criteria, the application process, and the benefits it offers.
About the Scholarship: The UNIL Master’s Grants are specifically designed for international students interested in pursuing a Master’s degree at the University of Lausanne. Each year, around 10 scholarships are awarded to exceptional candidates.
These scholarships cover the duration of the chosen Master’s program and provide a monthly stipend of CHF 1,600 from September 15 to July 15 (for 10 months per year) for the entire duration of the Master’s program, except in cases of definitive academic failure after the first year.
Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible for the UNIL Master’s Grants, you must meet the following criteria:
- Hold a foreign university degree equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from UNIL before the start of the Master’s program.
- Demonstrate outstanding academic performance and achievements during your previous studies.
- Possess at least a B2 level of proficiency in either French or English, depending on the language in which your chosen Master’s program is taught.
- Have not been previously registered at UNIL.
- Pay the required CHF 200.00 administration fee.
Note that certain Master’s programs, such as Medicine, Education, Law (except for specific specializations), and a few others, are not eligible for this scholarship.
Application Process: Applications for the UNIL Master’s Grants are usually open until November 1st for the following academic year. To apply, candidates must submit a completed application along with the necessary documents via postal mail to the university’s address. Please avoid applying for admission to the Master’s degree through the Admissions Department (SII) separately.
Benefits of the Scholarship: If selected for the UNIL Master’s Grant, you will be exempted from paying fixed registration fees for your courses throughout the Master’s program. However, a nominal CHF 80.00 fee per semester will still apply. The scholarship will cover your living expenses with a monthly stipend, allowing you to focus on your studies and make the most of your academic journey in Switzerland.
The UNIL Master’s Grants present a fantastic opportunity for international students to pursue their dream of studying in Switzerland.
By offering financial support and recognition of academic excellence, UNIL encourages talented individuals to join its diverse and thriving academic community.
