What is the Marian Cranwell Prize?

The Marian Cranwell Prize is an annual scholarship awarded to the student who has completed the best thesis or dissertation focusing on environmental or ecological science, including the cultural history of environmental areas, as part of their Master’s or PhD degree requirements.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for this scholarship, your thesis or dissertation must have been submitted and examined in accordance with the University’s regulations, and the degree must have been approved between 1 January and 31 December of the previous year.

Scholarship Value:

The lucky recipient of the Marian Cranwell Prize will receive partial funding amounting to $3,600.

Selection Process:

The University of Auckland Council, with the help of a selection panel comprising the Head of the School of Biological Sciences (or nominee) and the Head of the School of Environment, will be responsible for awarding the prize. However, please note that the University Council is not obligated to award the prize if there are no candidates of sufficient merit.
