Belgian American Educational Foundation Fellowships

About the Fellowships:

The BAEF is offering ten fellowships for U.S. citizens and permanent residents who wish to undertake Master’s or Ph.D. studies or research in any subject at Belgian universities and institutes of higher learning. The fellowship duration is a maximum of 12 months, and it should take place between 1st July 2023 and 31st December 2023.

Scholarship Benefits:

Recipients of the fellowship will receive a generous stipend to support their studies or research in Belgium. The stipend amounts are as follows:

• $29,000 for Master’s or Ph.D. students
• $33,000 for Post-doctoral Fellows

In addition to the stipend, the BAEF will cover the cost of health insurance in Belgium, providing further support to the selected candidates.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for the fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
2. Either be registered in a Ph.D. or equivalent degree program in the United States at the time of application, OR be enrolled in a graduate program (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Belgium while holding the BAEF fellowship, OR hold a Master’s, Ph.D., or equivalent degree. Post-doctoral applicants should have no more than 2 years since obtaining their Ph.D. degree by 1st July 2023.
