The Keith and Dorothy Mackay Travelling Scholarship aims to financially support students enrolled in a Higher Degree Research (HDR) course at the University of New England. The scholarship offers research funding for either a short-term attachment to another institution, lasting up to three months and approved by the university, or for attending an internationally recognized academic conference to present research findings. If applicable, students have the option to combine an approved research placement and conference attendance.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

1. Currently enrolled in a Higher Degree Research (HDR) course at the University of New England.
2. The proposed travel for a short-term attachment must be completed before the end of the second year of candidature for PhD students or before the end of the first year for Master’s students (FTE days).
3. There should be at least six months of candidature remaining (FTE days) after the proposed attendance dates at an internationally recognized research conference.
4. The scholarship will not fund fieldwork or data collection.

Selection Criteria:

The selection of candidates for the Keith and Dorothy Mackay Postgraduate Travelling Scholarships is primarily based on how the proposed travel will enhance the student’s research and research career. Applicants must provide proof of invitation from the host institution (in the case of a short-term attachment) or official notification of the acceptance of their paper, poster, or abstract at an international conference.

Additionally, a Supervisor’s Statement of Support must be provided, indicating the backing of the student’s supervisor for the proposed research placement or conference attendance.
