VLIR-UOS Training Scholarships for Developing Countries

The VLIR-UOS International Training Programme offers fully funded practical trainings ranging from 1 to 4 months at Flemish universities and university colleges in Belgium. These training programs focus on various development-oriented subjects and are taught in English. The scholarships are targeted at individuals from eligible countries in Africa, Asia, and Latin America, with the aim of supporting capacity-building in these regions.

Scholarship Details: The VLIR-UOS scholarship covers all expenses for the duration of the training, including a daily allowance of €32, one-time payments, accommodation, insurance, international travel, and tuition fees.

Eligibility Criteria: To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • National and resident of one of the 54 eligible countries in Africa, Asia, or Latin America.
  • Age: 40 years or younger for a Master’s program or 45 years or younger for a training program (as of January 1 of the course start year).
  • Fulfill the academic admission criteria set by the university or university college, including educational background and language proficiency.
  • Not employed in the commercial profit sector; candidates from education and research institutions, government sector, social economy, and NGOs are encouraged to apply.
  • For training programs, relevant professional experience and a written employer’s statement of (re)integration in a job where the acquired knowledge and skills will be immediately applicable.

  1. Dairy Nutrition (Application deadline: 1 March 2015)
  2. Technology for Integrated Water Management (Application deadline: 20 February 2015)
  3. Food Safety, Quality Assurance Systems, and Risk Analysis (Application deadline: 1 March 2015)
  4. Lib@Web: Management of Electronic Information and Digital Libraries (Application deadline: 1 February 2015)
  5. Human Rights for Development (HR4DEV) (Application opens at the end of January 2015)
  6. Road Safety in Low and Middle-Income Countries (Application deadline: 12 April 2015)
  7. AudioVisual Learning Materials – Management, Production, and Activities (AVLM) (Application deadline: 31 March 2015)

Application Process: Applicants should first apply for the specific training program of interest by following the guidelines on the program’s website. During the application process, candidates can indicate their wish to apply for a scholarship. It is essential to note that applications sent directly to VLIR-UOS will not be considered.
