What are Scotland’s Saltire Scholarships?

Which Universities are Hosting the Scholarships?

Scotland’s higher education institutions are hosting the Saltire Scholarships, providing a diverse range of courses to choose from. Whether you prefer studying on-campus in Scotland or through distance learning, you are eligible to apply.

How Many Scholarships are Available?

Up to 50 Saltire Scholarships are offered each year, ensuring a fair chance for eligible applicants from the target countries.

What Does the Scholarship Cover?

Each scholarship is worth £8000, which can be used towards tuition fees for a one-year full-time Master’s program at a Scottish university. However, any additional costs and expenses are the responsibility of the student.

Am I Eligible to Apply?

To be eligible for the Saltire Scholarships, you must meet the following criteria:

  1. Have a conditional or unconditional offer from a Scottish university for an eligible course to be delivered physically in Scotland or through distance online learning.
  2. Be a citizen of Canada, India, Japan, the USA, Pakistan, or China (Hong Kong citizens are also eligible as it is a Special Administrative Region of China).
  3. Demonstrate the ability to cover living expenses in Scotland and the remaining tuition fees.
  4. Not have previously studied in Scotland.
  5. Not have received a Saltire Scholarship before.
  6. Meet the language requirements of the chosen course.
  7. Complete the scholarship application form by the deadline of 31st May 2022.

Apart from meeting the basic eligibility requirements, applicants should display an interest in studying in Scotland or at a specific Scottish university.

Aspiring to work and study in a global context and taking on leadership roles in their chosen careers is also essential. Moreover, candidates should possess interpersonal and communication skills necessary for participating in the accompanying program of activities that come with the scholarship.

How to Apply?

Unfortunately, applications for the Saltire Scholarships are currently closed.

To apply for the scholarship, candidates needed to have a conditional or unconditional offer from a Scottish university for an eligible course. The application form was to be submitted online, along with the unique reference number received in the offer letter from the Scottish university.
