Scholarship Description

Korean Government Scholarship Program (KGSP) 2023 is now accepting online applications from students. The Korean Government has announced its KGSP scholarships programme for international students in order to promote the internationalisation of Korean higher education.

These Korean KGSP scholarships will allow students to pursue undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral degrees at any university of their choice.

The KGSP scholarship is also intended to foster friendly relations between Koreans and people from other countries.

Sponsorship Coverage of Korean Government Scholarship 2023:

The winners of the Korean KGSP Scholarships will be eligible for the following sponsorship:

The KGSP scholarship will cover the airfare of the grantees.
It will provide the grantees with a relocation or resettlement allowance of 200,000 KRW.
KRW 20,000 per month will be provided to cover living expenses.
Medical insurance will cost KRW 20,000 per month.
Every three months, KRW 800,000 will be given to each recipient to cover the cost of the language course.
Coverage of tuition fees (of maximum KRW 5,000,000 per semester)
An award for showing proficiency in the Korean language.
A grant for supporting the research expenses of up to KRW 240,000 (per semester) (per semester)
A grant of 500,000 to 800,000 KRW for printing the dissertation/thesis.
Upon completion of the degree programme, you will receive KRW 100,000.
Please keep in mind that the grant for research and thesis printing will only be given to students whose expenses are relevant, such as those enrolled in a research-based programme.

KGSP 2023 Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible to apply for the KGSP Korean Scholarships 2023, you must meet all of the following basic requirements:

The applicant and his/her parents should be born in a country other than Korea.

The applicant must not be a Korean citizen.
Applicants must be physically and mentally healthy in order to remain in Korea for the duration of their degree programme.
Undergraduate students and applicants must be under the age of 25.
Graduate students must be under the age of 40 at the time of admission.
Before arriving in Korea, the undergraduate applicant must have completed all levels of elementary, middle, and high school education.
Before arriving, the graduate student must have completed his or her master’s or bachelor’s degree.
The applicant must have a CGPA of at least 80%. This CGPA or percentage will be from his/her last educational institution.
Before applying, the applicant must not have attended any Korean educational institution or earned a degree from one. (This includes any bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. degree.) High school education is not included).
Applicants with a 90% or higher and who currently or previously held a KGSP grant may reapply. They can apply directly to the university or take the university track.
How to Apply for the Korean KGSP Scholarship 2023?
To apply for the South Korean KGSP scholarship, first locate a Korean university that offers this scholarship, and then follow the process outlined by that university to submit an application for a KGSP scholarship and admission. Here are some additional details:

NIIED contacts the Korean Embassy or a local university to recommend potential candidates. (Students can apply through the embassy or the university, and they will be chosen through that platform.)
Applicants must submit the necessary documents to the embassy in their home country or to the university to which they applied.
The documents will then be sent to NIIED by the Korean university or embassy (only the documents of the shortlisted candidates will be sent). This is to ensure that the students chosen are indeed eligible for the scholarship.
NIIED will then evaluate the documents and notify the recipients’ embassy or university.
The embassy or university will notify the applicants of their acceptance or rejection. The scholarship committee does not notify the students directly.

KGSP 2023 Scholarship Application Deadline:


The deadline to apply for the Korean Government Scholarships Program for the class of 2023 is July 30, 2022. Following the close of this first batch, the next round of applications will be open for submissions soon.
