Scholarship Details:

The NCLC Graduate Research Fellowships are designed to support short-term research projects that align with Winston Churchill’s legacy of global leadership. Selected candidates will be awarded a partial funding of $7,500 to assist them in their research endeavors. This grant will enable recipients to travel to special collections and archives worldwide, providing valuable resources to support their research.

Eligibility Criteria:

To be eligible for this prestigious fellowship, applicants must be currently enrolled in either a master’s or a doctoral program. Both GWU students and non-GWU applicants are welcome to apply, making it an excellent opportunity for students from various academic backgrounds.

Requirements and Benefits:

Upon being awarded the fellowship, recipients are expected to conduct their research diligently and present their findings at the end of the program in a public event at the National Churchill Leadership Center. Additionally, awardees will have the unique opportunity to contribute a short article to the widely distributed monthly Churchill Bulletin, reaching over 70,000 subscribers through the International Churchill Society.

Application Process:

Interested candidates must submit the following documents to be considered for the fellowship:

  1. Completed Application Form
  2. A Statement of Interest: A brief introduction of yourself, along with an explanation of your interest in global leadership and how it relates to the exemplary leadership demonstrated by Winston Churchill (maximum 250 words).
  3. Project Proposal: An outline of your research scope and how you plan to utilize the fellowship funding to support your research (maximum 500 words).
  4. CV or Resume: Highlighting your academic achievements and relevant experiences.
  5. One Letter of Recommendation: The letter should be sent directly by the recommender to Alice Abbott-Havers.
