This scholarship, offered by the University of Birmingham in partnership with Zonta International, aims to support and empower women in their educational and professional journey within the field of business.

The scholarship was established in 1998, thanks to a generous bequest from Jane M. Klausman, an esteemed member of the Zonta Club of Syracuse, New York, USA, and a former Zonta International Parliamentarian. Jane M. Klausman’s vision was to break gender barriers in the realm of business by providing financial assistance to ambitious and talented women.

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must be currently enrolled in a business or business-related program at an accredited university, college, or institute. If you’re applying for an undergraduate program, you should be at least in your second year of study. For Master’s applicants, you should be in the final year of your program when submitting your application to the local Zonta club or district.

One crucial point to note is that you must still be attending school when the scholarship funds are disbursed, which means you should not graduate before April 2023. Additionally, a stellar academic record, especially excelling in business subjects, is a significant factor in determining eligibility. The scholarship committee seeks candidates who show initiative, ambition, and a strong commitment to building a successful career in business.

Here’s how the application process works:

  1. Zonta clubs accept scholarship applications. Reach out to your local Zonta club to inquire about the application deadline, which typically falls between April and June.
  2. The local Zonta club reviews the applications and selects a recipient. The chosen applicant’s application is then sent to the governor or regional representative by August 15th or the deadline set by the district or region.
  3. The district or region further evaluates the applicants and forwards the chosen application to Zonta International Headquarters by October 15th.
  4. The official announcement of the international scholarship recipients is made in December.
