Applicants must write an essay about a life challenge that has impacted their mental health and contributed to their high school experience.

Applicants must also submit a Letter of Recommendation that best describes the applicant’s inspirational dedication to overcoming difficult life experiences related to their mental health, as well as why the applicant should receive this award.

The Quell Foundation

The Quell Foundation provides three mental health scholarships:

The Quell Foundation Survivor Scholarship is given to high school seniors or current undergraduate/graduate students. They have suffered the heartbreak of losing a parent, caregiver, or sibling to suicide. College students with a 3.40 GPA are eligible for a $1,000 scholarship.

JED’s Student Voice of Mental Health Award


The JED’s Student Voice of Mental Health Award was established to raise awareness of mental health issues, reduce stigma associated with mental illness, and encourage peer help-seeking. The undergraduate college student chosen for this award will receive the following:

The INCIGHT Scholarship
